Overview:
Reframe is a mixed-media artwork that reflects on how artists navigate and process both joy and emotional difficulty. The piece examines the inner worlds we construct—grand, imaginative, and often more beautiful than the experiences that shaped them—and how these internal landscapes can hide pain that isn’t always visible from the outside. The work invites viewers to reconsider the emotional labor behind creation and the grace we show ourselves as we feel, heal, and grow.

Process:
-
Created a hand-painted 18×24 canvas using acrylics, vintage art-book collage, gold leaf, Ganglion EEG biosensor, and framed imagery layered to build texture and symbolism.
-
Wrote original poetry embedded within the visual narrative to mirror themes of reflection and reframing.
-
Designed an augmented reality scene that activates when viewers scan the QR code on the piece, revealing digital layers that expand the visual and emotional story beyond the surface of the canvas.
Result:
A physical-digital artwork where painting, collage, poetry, and AR combine to explore the complexity of internal emotional worlds. The AR overlay extends the meaning of the canvas, offering viewers a deeper, more immersive window into the piece’s themes of self-reflection, vulnerability, and the evolving nature of personal healing.
